Indian Cabinet Approves Pact with Saudi Arabia for Collaboration in Digitization and Electronic Manufacturing
New Delhi, December 15, 2023 - In a significant development, the Indian Cabinet chaired by PM Modi approves a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) inked on August 18, 2023, between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This landmark agreement focuses on fostering collaboration in the realms of Digitization and Electronic Manufacturing.
The primary objective of the MoC is to fortify ties between the two nations in key areas, including Digitization, Electronic Manufacturing, e-Governance, smart infrastructure, e-Health, and e-Education. Notably, the pact aims to propel joint research initiatives in digital innovation and leverage cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Robots, Cloud Computing, and Blockchain.
By establishing a robust framework for cooperation, the MoC paves the way for strategic partnerships and mutual endeavors. It also emphasizes the promotion of innovative training and development through e-Teaching, e-learning, and exchange programs in the fields of digitization and electronics manufacturing.
One of the core objectives is to create joint training programs to enhance the capacity of professionals in Information and Communication Technologies. The collaboration endeavors to strengthen the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) and start-up ecosystem by facilitating the exchange of information on business accelerators, venture capital, and technology start-up incubators.
This initiative is poised to generate employment opportunities for both nations, aligning with the broader vision of self-reliance, encapsulated in the concept of Atmanirbhar Bharat. The MoC signifies a commitment to fostering technological advancements and solidifying the bond between India and Saudi Arabia in the digital age.
