Emirates Airlines Celebrates Diwali with Festive Onboard Offerings
Dubai, UAE, November 1, 2023 - Emirates, the renowned international airline, is set to embrace the joy and radiance of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, by introducing special in-flight celebrations on routes to and from India from November 9th to 15th. This initiative reflects Emirates' commitment to honoring a variety of multicultural occasions throughout the year, ranging from Eid to Christmas, Thanksgiving to Lunar New Year.
In celebration of Diwali, Emirates will treat passengers traveling to and from major Indian cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Cochin, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata, and Mumbai, to a delectable array of Diwali sweets and traditional dishes. The airline will also introduce Diwali-themed cocktails and mocktails in select lounges.
For passengers in Premium Economy and Economy Class, the highlight will be the inclusion of motichoor laddu, a beloved Indian sweet, with their hot meals. These mouthwatering, cardamom-infused flour balls, deep-fried to perfection and garnished with saffron, promise to be a delightful addition to the culinary experience. Meanwhile, First and Business Class travelers will be indulged with Pista roll, a delightful blend of ground cashew nuts, pistachios, spices, and edible silver leaf.
Emirates' First Class Lounge in Dubai will offer a Thali set followed by the traditional Indian ice cream, Kulfi Falooda, featuring saffron and pistachio. Passengers can also savor an assortment of Diwali treats such as dal kachori and vegetable samosas, complemented by the Phuljadi cocktail, a delightful mix of Woodford Reserve, chai, lemon, orange, and agave. Business Class Lounge guests can relish kachori, samosas, angoori rabdi, and rasgullas, along with the Diwali cocktail, Rum ta jogi, made with white rum, elderflower, lemon, and a pinch of chaat masala. Travelers in the Emirates Lounges of Cape Town and Johannesburg, home to a substantial Indian diaspora, will be treated to additional Indian delights such as ladoo, jalebi, and burfi.
In addition to the culinary offerings, passengers can immerse themselves in Indian cinema with access to an extensive collection of over 260 Indian movies, featuring new releases, classic Bollywood films, and regional Indian cinema. Notable titles include "Bholaa," "Drishyam 2," "Rocketry: The Nambi Effect," and the eagerly anticipated "Kantara." Furthermore, a special collection of Yash Raj Films, known as Bollywood's 'father of romance,' is available for passengers' entertainment. Indian music enthusiasts will also find joy in the vast selection of music videos from Yash Raj, along with over 30 albums and playlists of Indian music.
